Hunches
The Hemlock, San Francisco, CA
26 June 2009
Yesterday was a rushed, manic day. Today is (thankfully) the opposite. Relaxing, as much as I am able to relax anyway. I am drinking a Mojito right now. That's fucking relaxing. Right? However, I also vacuumed the house, cleaned up. To men, that is a way to relax. Get things in order. Helps clear my head.
Next on the agenda is getting all my prints squared away for the SSCA "Benign Neglect" show. Gotta see what I already have prints of, what I need to get printed for the show. I want to get that all wrapped up before the 4th.
Last night I went to Gilman to see the Zeros. I spent most of the evening hanging out with Missy at Pyramid. Yeah, I'm one of those people. I've watched enough bands I don't like/care about in my life. I've put in my time maaaaaaaan. The Zeros were good, but from the description of the previous night's show, it sounds like the audience was way more into it on Friday. The show I saw, hardly anyone moved at first, then a handful of kids started moshing. This is gonna make me sound OLD but fuck it...you know, the Zeros aren't really a moshing band. Pogo, defintely. Moshing though??? Stagediving to "Wimp???" It was cool though to see Penelope Houston right in the mix, up front, dancing and singing along. All in all a good show...I saw Sam & Helene, whom I first met 10 years ago in Tucson while on tour with Discount. They just moved out here. We talked about how crazy it is that Alison is in a band with Jack White. Seriously. That is NUTS. Alison (former roommate and at one point one of my better friends) was on the fucking Tonight Show.
Missy & I went to the Ghost Town right after the Zeros finished, to see the Box Elders. I'm not super into them, but it was good seeing Chris & Lily and Oscar and other people that were at that show.
